Creating A Winning Cover

With every multi-photographer project such as this, landing the cover shot is always a source of pride. Frenchman Bruno Barbey’s striking picture of two enormous Buddha statues in Monywa won over the the book’s editorial team. The design agency Asylum, based in Singapore and considered Singapore’s most outstanding design studio, was then commissioned to create an exciting cover design. Their work led to three different “packagings” of the book, which will be officially launched tomorrow: a retail edition, a sponsor edition and a “Gold” edition, the latter of which features a slipcase styled with gold leaf to mimic the look of gold-leaf covered Buddha statues.
